Farm animals can be trained without causing fear and resistence
Before we ask an animal to do anything for us, we must first understand who the animal is, how it feels, and how it experiences the world.
A different way to work with animals
These courses are not built around profit, control, force, or tradition.
They are built around understanding.
Understanding species-specific behavior.
Understanding emotional state.
Understanding how learning truly happens.
Whether the animal is a sheep, a horse, or a chicken – the principles remain the same.
1. The animal is an individual
Every animal has its own personality, history, and emotional responses.
2. Species-specific behavior matters
Training starts from what the animal naturally is – not what we want it to be.
3. Emotional state shapes behavior
Fear, safety, curiosity, and trust directly affect how an animal learns.
4. Ethics is part of training
How we train is as important as what we train.
What this means in practice
This approach changes everyday handling.
Training is not a separate activity. It becomes part of daily life:
Haltering, hoof care, medical procedures, moving animals, living with animals.

From horses to sheep – applied behavioral training
I am a long-term horse professional and currently studying to become an equine massage therapist. My background in horse training has shaped the way I understand movement, prey animal behaviour, learning, and emotional regulation in animals.
For over 10 years, I have also kept sheep in my animal sanctuary.
Using professional animal training skills, I have developed a structured, systematic training path specifically for sheep – designed to make everyday handling calmer, safer, and more cooperative. My goal is to handle animals without causing them fear.
Unlike most sheep training resources available online, this system is not based on repeating traditional methods.
It applies modern learning theory, emotional state awareness, and species-specific behavioral understanding to sheep.
Today, I offer this structured system as an online course. Many people still search for sheep halter breaking, but there is a more effective approach.
About the trainer
The courses are created by Animal Trainer Jenna Oranen, whose work focuses on fear-free, positive-reinforcement-based handling of farm animals and horses, combining practical daily care with a deep understanding of animal behavior and emotional wellbeing.
When we change how we see the animal, we change how we work with the animal.
